WELCOME TO CAVERNAUTS INC., MINER. Few others bother to dig on this alien-ridden hellhole of a planet, but that won't make your job here easy - far from it, in fact. So strap in, and get used to your tools and weapons if you hope to get back to the station in one piece and claim your paycheck.

Inspired primarily by the video game Deep Rock Galactic by Ghost Ship Games and based on the 24XX system by Jason Tocci, 24XX CAVERNAUTS is a tabletop RPG in which you take on the role of blue-collar dwarves, kobolds, goblins, ant-people and industrial androids in employ of the titular mining corporation, and descend into the uncharted depths of an alien world filled with deadly flora and fauna in search of mineral riches to extract and bring back to your space station in orbit.

Explore the vast subterranean complexes of this strange planet, ranging from underground deserts and fungal forests to ancient ruins and the guts of some horrible gargantuan creature. Use a variety of tools to get from place to place, ranging from trusty pickaxes and mining drills to jetpacks and platform guns.

Get into fights with the planet's local alien swarms, rampaging elementals from other planes of existence, and even rival mining teams, using a variety of weapons at your disposal (which you can upgrade too!).

And when you make it back, have a bit of a breather and chill out with your fellow coworkers aboard the space station (and possibly get into some hijinks there as well), before hopping back into the drop pod for another mission.

Greetings! I quite like this. Do you think going forward, that you'll update it or add more rulings?  I am quite confused on the GM side of things on how combat should work, aswell as why skills have a die attributed to them while players seemingly only roll a d6 to see what happens-

If there's anything to help clear this up, I'd love the help!

Not the author, but if you're confused, I recommend checking out the 2400 Emergency Rules and this blog post. :)

Players can roll various dice - they do so to avoid risks of their chosen actions. d6 by default, higher dice if they have a skill relevant to the action, d4 if hindered, potentially extra dice if being helped - see the Rolling section.

The d6 rolls in Running The Game are meant to be done by the GM.

Oooooh, okay! Thank you a bunch!

Thank you for making the system! I'll be trying it out soon.

Just a question: if the conversation steers that way, would it be okay to mention the game on the DRG Discord or Subreddit? :)

Thank you, and yeah, go ahead!
